I have had a Biewer Terrier for over 14 years, and I love their personality and playfulness.  They are a fairly new breed with AKC, and not a lot of people know about them yet. So that is why I have this site…to tell you about this wonderful breed and provide updates on any new information I can find!

To get you started, the Biewer Terrier is an elegant, long-haired, tri-colored toy terrier whose only purpose in life is to love and be loved. They maintain a charming, whimsical attitude well into adulthood. Carrying around a toy or two is not surprising.

The Biewer Terrier is a very dedicated, loyal family member and friendly with strangers. A large percentage of the Biewer Terriers are happy-go-lucky dogs, smiling when asked if they are happy. In spite of its small stature, the Biewer is a very hearty, athletic dog and an excellent hunter of vermin. They are lighthearted, have a childlike attitude, and like to carry toys in their mouths. He is quick to alert you to any visitors, but is not a constant barker.

The Biewer you see in the images below is my little Everly!  She is just about to turn 3 now and is such a bundle of love!  I will update the site with new photos of her and make sure I keep you up-to-date on anything new about my favorite breed.  Just check out my Blog page for information and updates!

BUSY AS A BIEWER

The breed takes its name from the late Werner and Gertrud Biewer, Yorkshire Terrier breeders from Hunsrück, Germany, who in the 1980s began producing tricolor Yorkies. Initially they referred to these striking dogs as the Black and White Yorkshire Terrier, and later as the Biewer Yorkshire á la Pom Pon. (The pompom reference is attributed to the famous singer Margot Eskens, who thought they looked like a ball of yarn.) The German kennel club refused to register the Biewers’ dogs, but this did not deter them. In time, they found a registry that would accept the dogs.
